When it comes to choosing new anti-aging skin care products, the most important thing to look at is the ingredient list, as the ingredients used can give you a great idea of how well the product will target your specific skin concerns. From retinol to vitamin E, here are some of OROGOLD’s favorite anti-aging ingredients.

Retinol
Derived from vitamin A, retinol speeds up cell turnover, clears away any dead skin cells, and stimulates cellular repair in the deep layers of the skin, which, in turn, boosts the production of collagen and elastin. Retinol is also able to increase the formation of blood vessels, which pumps up the circulation and gives the skin a healthy, rosy glow. When purchasing an anti-aging product that contains retinol, OROGOLD recommends opting for packaging in the form of a tube or a pump bottle, as this reduces the amount of light and air that gets into the product, saving it from early degradation.

Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs)
Alpha hydroxy acids, such as glycolic acid, are exfoliators that dissolve the glue that keeps dead skin cells held on to the surface of the skin. This releases the dead skin cells, revealing the fresh, new skin beneath. The way in which AHAs carry out this process helps to increase cell turnover, which is something that decreases with age. Clearing your skin of dead skin cells also means that any other anti-aging products you use, be it serums, moisturizers or skin treatments, will be able to penetrate your skin much more effectively. When choosing a product that contains AHAs, OROGOLD recommends opting for one that contains no more than 8%, as anything higher than this can make your skin much more sensitive to the sun.

Vitamin E
An extremely powerful antioxidant, vitamin E is able to reverse the forms of skin damage that result in dryness, wrinkles, fine lines and the destruction of collagen. Vitamin E is able to neutralize free radicals that damage cells and speed up the aging process, and is also able to strengthen the skin’s barrier, keeping it better protected from the environment.

Tea Extracts
Another ingredient that is high in antioxidant properties, tea extracts can prevent the breakdown of collagen, while reducing UV damage at the same time. When it comes to the different tea extracts, green tea contains some of the most potent antioxidants known to mankind, and is able to bind itself to free radicals, destroying them before they are able to cause damage to the cells in the body.

There are a huge number of anti-aging ingredients out there, and some have been proven to be much more effective than others. When purchasing new anti-aging products, always check the ingredient list so that you can see whether the important ingredients are contained in a high enough quantity. OROGOLD also advises that you regularly replace your anti-aging products, as exposure to oxygen and light can cause certain ingredients to quickly lose their potent effect.
